A notorious criminal, Gru, jealous of the fame of rising new villains, prepares with his sidekick, Dr. Nefario, a diabolical plan that will allow him to shrink and steal the Moon. Forced to adopt three little girls in order to get close to his arch‑enemy Vector, who possesses the shrink ray, he gradually learns to take care of them and even grows attached to them. The three girls, united yet vulnerable, slowly discover in this criminal the qualities needed to make him a caring father. But Gru’s plan takes more and more of his time, leaving him no choice but to neglect them.
